"???In any event, even if the suit was an admiralty matter, at the time the suit was filed on 5th July 1988, by virtue of Section 7 of the Federal High Court Act 1976 and Section 236 (1) of the 1979 Constitution, which conferred unlimited jurisdiction on State High Courts, the Federal and State High Courts exercised concurrent jurisdiction in admiralty matters.

". . . The Supreme Court in Chevron (Nig.) Ltd v. Lonestar Drilling (Nig.) Ltd (2007) 1 NWLR (Pt. 1059) 168 considered the question whether an action for breach of contract for supply of goods conveyed by sea is an admiralty action agreed with the view given by the Court of Appeal per Niki Tobi, JCA (as he then was) that: "I have carefully examined the claim and I am of the view that it is a claim in contract and has nothing to do with admiralty.
